  • Committees

    Develop membership recruitment and retention campaigns, coordinate member surveys, assess member benefits, website development, and advise the Board regarding classes of membership and dues structure.
    The guidance of a mentor can be irreplaceable in the development of aspiring medical students and residents. By imparting advice that only comes with experience, you can help define the next generation of great osteopathic physicians in Washington!

    An ideal mentor should:

    • Challenge and encourage success
    • Suggest and create networking opportunities
    • Provide advice on professional and or CV development
    • Assess progress/boost confidence
    • Be available for open/honest discussion
    Provide suggested topics and articles for the WOMA News You Can Use, website and Facebook content.

    Participate in the selection of topics and speakers based on needs assessment and outcome survey results, current health issues and AOA CME accreditation requirements. Program Co-chair Volunteer: The Program Co-chairs participate in the planning of CME activities, acting in the capacity of moderator/master of ceremonies at the Annual Convention or Fall Conference for the portion of the program in which s/he has been selected to moderate. Specific duties of the moderator include:

    • Keep the program flowing as scheduled
    • Introduce speakers
    • May assist speakers in moderating Q/A sessions
    • Make daily housekeeping announcements
    • Take estimated counts of attendance at beginning and end of each lecture
    • Thank presenter at the end of each lecture and presents thank you gift
    • Co-ordinate with WOMA staff regarding program changes and announcement updates
    • Monitor quality of sound and video and notify staff and/or in-room technician of any difficulties

    OMM Educator Volunteer: To maintain the continued value of the Osteopathic Diagnosis and Treatment Education sessions at our Annual Conventions and Fall Conferences, WOMA is looking for DOs with strong OMT skills to volunteer 1-2 hours of their time during those events to demonstrate and discuss manipulation techniques with their fellow DOs. We encourage you to help continue our osteopathic traditions and legacy through osteopathic treatment education of DOs.

    Lecture Presenter/Speaker: WOMA's Education Committee is always on the lookout for potential lecture topics and speakers. If interested in volunteering to present, please be ready with your topic area and a short description of your proposed lecture. You will also be asked to upload your CV/qualifications as part of your submission. If you have multiple topics you are interested in presenting, you must submit a separate form for each one.

    Sponsors, exhibitors and grantors are needed to support the cost of providing WOMA’s high-quality CME programs. Your help in procuring this support will help WOMA reduce attendance fees.
    Study pending legislation which affects the healing arts professions, make recommendations to the WOMA Board of Directors on WOMA legislative positions, priorities, and sponsored legislation that would benefit health care in this state. Participate by email and brief conference calls when necessary.
    Review and recommends changes to keep bylaws current.
  • Leadership

    Active participation on WOMA Committees is ideal preparation for serving on the WOMA board. The Board meets quarterly. It consists of the Executive Committee, which meets monthly, and three Division Chairs.
    The Washington Osteopathic Foundation was created in 1971 to support WOMA in its efforts to provide scholarships and low-interest loans to osteopathic medical students and support osteopathic medical educational programs. Board members oversee fundraising and distribution of funds.
    Those with experience in committee participation are encouraged to volunteer to chair a committee. Committee chairs work under the guidance of their division chair.
  • Events

    Those with OMM expertise are encourage to assist as table trainers at WOMA Meet and Treat sessions in their area.
    This is an educational and social event that provides attendees to brush up on their OMT skills and networking opportunities. Meet and Treat hosts provide the location and recruit volunteer table trainers who bring their portable tables to use. WOMA sends out the invitations on behalf of the host and guidance is available from the Chair of the Division of Membership. Reimbursement of refreshments is provided.
