May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Maintaining mental health and well-being is extremely important for physicians who face numerous pressures and demands. Burnout, stress, and other mental health challenges may not only impact your personal lives but also the quality of the care you provide to your patients. Taking care of yourself is the first step in taking care of others! Prioritizing self-care, whether through physical exercise, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones, is essential for maintaining overall well-being. Connect with your support system of family/friends and/or support groups who can empathize with your experiences and offer shared understanding. More importantly, seek professional mental health services if you feel you need to. It’s ok not to be ok. Check in on yourself and others, and help break the stigma, one conversation at a time. You are not alone!
