Physicians Needed for DO Day

DO Day in Olympia is coming up on Thursday, February 27th. We have only had a few physicians sign up, so if you are planning to attend, please fill out the form on the DO Day information page below. Although appointments may be hard to come by this late in the planning process, it is still possible to meet with your legislators during a drop by.

This is an important day to make your voice as an osteopathic physician in Washington heard and advocate for or against the policies that could affect you or your patients!

If you haven't filled out the survey to help select the top three priorities we will be discussing with our legislators, please take a moment to fill that out HERE.

Osteopathic Medical Student Mentors Needed

WOMA hosts a mentoring program to provide opportunity for matching pre-med students to an osteopathic medical student mentor. We have had several pre-med students reach out recently, but we are in need of more mentors to match them up with! If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please fill out the form below and email it to hgriffin@woma.org.

Shape the Future of Osteopathic Medicine:
Your Expertise Needed!

In 2016 the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) published the Fundamental Osteopathic Medical Competency Domains (FOMCD), which informs the blueprint for the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensure Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) series. As part of their ongoing efforts toward continuous quality improvement, the NBOME would like your opinion regarding the continued correlation of the FOMCD in relation to the practice of the osteopathic medicine. The participation of the osteopathic medical community iin this survey is essential for keeping the COMLEX-USA blueprint aligned with current osteopathic medical practice.

The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete. The survey lists each of the seven FOMCD competency domains and their required elements. You are asked to rate the importance of each element within the domains in relation to the practice of osteopathic medicine. You will also have an opportunity to suggest elements to be added to the domains or to suggest other changes. Please complete the survey by Wednesday, January 22nd.

Final Naturopath Sunrise Review

The DOH released its final report on the Naturopathic Scope of Practice Sunrise Review proposal. Good news - preliminary recommendations made last summer held strong in the final report:

However, the department recommends this proposal not be enacted because it does not meet the criteria in RCW 18.120.010.

This was a long process, even by Sunrise standards. Thank you for your advocacy on behalf of the physician community. This is a win for safe and effective patient care in our state.
